The licence
Kanecta is published under the Open Ownership Software Licence. It's source available, not open source — and it says so up front.
In short
- You may run, study, change, share and fork Kanecta, for any purpose.
- The one condition: each person who uses it belongs to a mutual, does the five-minute annual declaration, and pays the dues or declares hardship.
- Try it first: three months free, everything switched on.
- Share alike: if you build on Kanecta — including types, components and functions — you publish what you built, for everyone. Your own data stays private.
- No conditions without a way to meet them: if there's no mutual to join, you don't have to join one.
- Leave the reminder in: the app's membership reminder never blocks you, but removing it from the code breaches the licence.
- Running it for others? Non-commercial operators show a small "run by members of a co-operative" badge. Commercial operators can buy a commercial licence instead.
The licence lives at oosl.org because it isn't only for Kanecta — any project that fits can use it. It's a first draft and no lawyer has reviewed it yet.
